3-day Mount Olympus Ascent

Day 1: Gkortsia – Petrostrouga Refuge

We begin our ascent from the forested area of Gortsia. The trail is mostly shaded, initially passing through dense pine forests, followed by beech forests, and eventually leading to the alpine forest of the unique, ancient Bosnian pines (Pinus heldreichii). Just before reaching Petrostrouga Refuge, we will visit the cave of the painter Vassilis Ithakisios, where you'll learn about his history and see the view that captivated him for over 10 years! The Petrostrouga Refuge is nearby from here, which is our final destination for the day. Enjoy a warm meal, wine, and a pleasant evening while receiving a briefing on the next day’s program.

Day 2: Petrostrouga – Plateau of the Muses – Petrostrouga

Today is dedicated to enjoying the grandeur of Mount Olympus. A few meters from Petrostrouga, the panoramic view of the Thermaic Gulf will captivate you. As we move into the alpine zone, the wild beauty of Olympus unfolds, and just before the Skourta summit, the Throne of Zeus will appear, a breathtaking sight. From Skourta, we will follow the "Laimos" path, a magical trail with unobstructed views of the Aegean to the east, Pieria to the north, and the Plateau of the Muses with the Throne of Zeus along the way.

At the Plateau of the Muses, we will visit the two refuges and enjoy coffee and snacks in this stunning landscape.

Those who choose to ascend Mytikas will meet their guide at the Plateau of the Muses. They will be provided with the necessary equipment and instructions before starting their ascent to the highest peak in Greece.

The additional cost for the ascent to Mytikas is €85 per person.

The rest will relax and visit the highest chapel in the Balkans, at the summit of Prophet Elias, and then move to the Tumba peak to marvel at the Great Kazania and the wild side of the peaks.

In the late afternoon, we will return to the Petrostrouga Refuge.

Day 3: Petrostrouga – Gortsia On our final day, we will enjoy breakfast and coffee with a beautiful view before descending back to Gortsia. But our adventure doesn’t end here! We will also visit the Litochoro Waterfall and the old monastery of St. Dionysius.
